T- minus 45 seconds and angry

Well here we are at Jackson park ten minutes and counting and my father, my Friend Alex and myself are about to finish the science experiment that I've Ben planing ever since space camp. while we were launching rockets and I noticed two identical rockets. one was a dud and later exploded and the other one shot up and fell straight down and stuck in the ground fins up. I thought that if you deliberately altered the shape/weight of the rocket, the trajectory would be different. so now here we are after three weeks of writing, hypothesizing, building and selecting a launch site... I was finally ready to launch. Alex is standing behind me with a note book, ready to monitor the launch pattern, my dad is taking pictures around us, we put the engine in place and hook the electric starter, which sends an electric pulse through the wire into the metal wires and sparks a small charge in the engine, causing the entire thing to explode sending the rocket up, and stared the count-down from 15. "15...14...13...12..." I couldn't wait! "8...7...6..." those guys playing racket ball over there would flip out! "4..." I inserted the launch key. "3..." The light glowed a neon red. "2..." my finger quivered over the ignition button. "1...LAUNCH!" I pressed the button and-- nothing absolutely nothing. Not even a slight pop, a sign that it was a dud.
I removed the key as Alex went to go check the connections. "There fine! try it again." he said as he ran back. so we did starting from 5. "5...4...3..."insert key"...2...1...launch!" still nothing. by the fifth time I was pretty pissed off and just hammering away at the button (Unsafe I know.) had shouting "come on!" at the launch controller. so after 19 false starts and twenty photos later, we assumed that the batteries that I grabbed were near dead and so we scrubbed the launch and are planing for another weekend. hopefully it will provide me with the information that I need to complete my report.
-more later
